This Mail-Back Verification service virtually guarantees your users will never get a piece of junk mail again!
Spam Ban is NOT a junk mail filter. Filtering searches for keywords in mail to determine if mail is spam. By it's nature a filter will never stop all spam, and worst of all, it sometimes stops important mail it shouldn't.
This add-on is a 'mail-back verification' service which means when someone writes mail to a user on your system for the first time, they are sent back an e-mail with a validation link they must click on before the mail is passed along to the user (they only do this once). Just this alone stops 99% of all junk mail as most of it is sent using fake e-mail return addresses (so no one can verify and move the message along). And for those spammers foolish enough to use a real e-mail address and click the link, the user can simply use the block feature to stop mail from that spammer’s address to all users of your site forever.
